NEW YORK – Hill+Knowlton Strategies today announced that, effective immediately, Europe, Middle East and Africa – EMEA – will become one unified region within Hill+Knowlton, with Lars Erik Grønntun becoming its chairman and CEO.
Grønntun had previously been president of H+K Europe and chairman of H+K Norway.
“By connecting and unifying the vast EMEA region under Lars Erik we will take advantage of the increased internationalization of trade and business by becoming more integrated, more competitive, and with much better utilization of our expertise from around the network – to the benefit of our clients and our people,” said Jack Martin, global chairman and CEO of Hill+Knowlton Strategies. “Lars Erik’s entrepreneurial background and spirit, his ability to drive through necessary change, as well as his long tenure with H+K make him the ideal person to lead a very exciting, growing region in our network.”
Lars Erik Grønntun founded Gambit H+K in Norway in 1995 and remained its CEO until 2011. During his tenure it became the largest agency in the country. In 2011, he joined the H+K global leadership team and became president of H+K operations in BENELUX; the Nordics; Central and Eastern Europe; and Russia and the CIS. Prior to this, he served at the firm’s EMEA Council. Grønntun is a senior strategy consultant within corporate communications and public affairs, and is client lead for some of H+K’s top global and European clients, including Statoil.
“I am honoured to have been chosen to lead H+K Strategies’ EMEA region,” said Grønntun. “For our company, this region is of vital importance given its size, vast geographic representation and market opportunity. I believe that our understanding of local markets together with our international mind-set and reach is a powerful combination for clients. As such, leading the charge in EMEA is deeply inspiring.”
Grønntun will report to Jack Martin and continue as a member of H+K Strategies’ global leadership group. Sconaid McGeachin remains president for H+K operations in Africa, Middle East & Turkey, reporting to Grønntun.
Richard Millar is today appointed Global Chair, Creative Strategy to drive a global creative initiative. Richard remains CEO of H+K’s UK operation and continues to report to Martin.
