H+K Army Fellow Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in Washington, DC Ceremony

With the rest of Washington divided by sequestration and partisan politics, the H+K team came together today to honor and celebrate one of its own colleagues. Surrounded by family and coworkers in an event punctuated by applause, smiles and tears, Major John Perrine was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army by his superior officer, Colonel Carmine Cicalese.
Working in our DC office for the past year as part of H+K Army Fellow/Training with Industry Program, Lt. Col Perrine has been an integral part of our Public Affairs department.
John is the third Army Fellow that H+K has hosted since 2010, partnering with the Army to provide a "broadening opportunity" for officers to learn how the private sector operates in the communications industry, focusing on message development, media intelligence, public affairs, internal communications, social media and crisis planning.
John’s military background has proven a natural fit for strategic recommendations, policy analysis and quick, on-your-feet, client guidance.
And it’s no surprise. The newly minted lieutenant colonel is used to putting out flames and successfully navigating military missions with aplomb. From serving as an artillery support officer throughout his career to serving at an officer-training facility, John has earned the respect and admiration of those he serves with. Speaking at the ceremony, Col. Cicalese warmly complimented John’s mix of hard and soft communications skills, intelligence and operations background – highlighting his outstanding efforts serving in Iraq and Kosovo.
In attendance at the ceremony were John’s wife, Kate, his parents and four children.
Thanking his family in remarks following his Oath of Office, his commitment to country and family was evident. Echoing this, we at H+K are especially touched that he chose our office to host the ceremony, including us in his circle of support.
We’re certain John will succeed in his next endeavor as he explores opportunities with the Pentagon, Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. John’s career has spanned from Kansas to the Middle East, and we’re proud to have been a part of it.
In fact, for nearly 80 years, H+K has proudly been a part of the careers of veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Like John, they've become an integral part of the H+K family - no matter where their careers take them, they'll always have a home here.
